Creating a sustainable future,

One home at a time.

The Vision

Blaquelite was founded by Jacques Bourgeois in 2022 with the vision of creating a sustainability consulting firm that is focused on helping individuals and families create holistic homes and communities.

As someone who has worked in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction industry for more than a decade, Jacques recognized that while sustainability was a priority at larger firms, the focus was often on big business rather than the everyday individual. He saw a need for a firm that is dedicated to providing attainable solutions for sustainability that are accessible and affordable for modern life.

Blaquelite's goal is to help shift our cultural mindset and misconceptions about sustainability by providing expert guidance and support to individuals and families who want to make a positive impact on the environment.

The company's focus on holistic living means that it considers the environmental, social, and health impacts of the choices made when designing and living in a home. By providing sustainable options that meet the needs of modern life, Blaquelite aims to make sustainable living more accessible and achievable for everyone.

Let’s make a plan

We are at the crux of needing to reduce our carbon footprint down to net-zero so that we have a cleaner future and a healthy planet to leave for future generations to come, but it takes more than just talk – it takes planning and shifting our cultural norms.

Here are a few steps you can follow to build a daily plan to reduce and track your carbon footprint.

  1. Calculate your current carbon footprint: There are many online carbon footprint calculators that can help you estimate your current emissions. These calculators typically ask questions about your energy use, transportation habits, and other factors that impact your carbon footprint.

  2. Set a reduction goal: Based on your current carbon footprint, decide on a reduction goal that is achievable but challenging. This could be a percentage reduction or a specific emissions target.

  3. Identify areas for improvement: Look at the various factors that contribute to your carbon footprint, such as energy use, transportation, and consumption habits, and identify the areas where you can make the greatest impact.

  4. Develop a plan: Create a plan that includes specific actions you can take to reduce your carbon footprint in the identified areas. For example, you could switch to energy-efficient appliances, carpool or use public transportation, or reduce your consumption of meat and dairy products.

  5. Track your progress: Keep track of your carbon emissions over time to see how your actions are making a difference. You can use a carbon tracking tool or app to help you measure your progress and stay motivated.

By following these steps, you can create a daily plan to reduce and track your carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the environment.

Holistic Homes are the future

Did you know our homes are alive and age just like we do? It is our responsibility to help them age gracefully and be as youthful as ever so our investment not only retains its value but also gains value as well, let’s get started with your holistic home journey today.

A holistic home is a dwelling that is designed and lived in with consideration for the environmental, social, and health impacts of the choices made. This approach to home design and living aims to create a home that is environmentally friendly, healthy, and supportive of overall well-being.

To create a holistic home, you can consider factors such as:

  1. Sustainable materials: Choosing building materials and products that are environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and produced with minimal waste can help create a more sustainable home.

  2. Energy efficiency: Maximizing energy efficiency through measures such as insulation, energy-efficient appliances, and windows can help reduce your carbon footprint and energy consumption.

  3. Natural light and ventilation: Incorporating natural light and ventilation through windows, skylights, and other techniques can reduce your reliance on artificial lighting and heating/cooling systems and create a more comfortable and healthy living environment.

  4. Indoor air quality: Using non-toxic paints, finishes, and cleaning products and adding plants to your home can improve indoor air quality and create a healthier living environment.

  5. Healthy living: Designing your home with features that support physical activity, such as a home gym or outdoor space for exercise, and creating a space for relaxation and stress management can promote healthy living.

  6. Supporting the local community: Choosing products and services from local businesses and organizations can support the local economy and reduce the environmental impact of transportation.

By considering these and other factors, you can create a holistic home that is environmentally friendly, healthy, and supportive of your overall well-being.
